Greeting
friends. I am sure you have heard about the terrible crisis in Southeast
Asia resulting from the earthquake and tsunamis in the region this past week.
Based on news in the impacted countries,
the region is in desperate need of humanitarian and financial support to help address
immediate food, water and shelter needs, and for rebuilding the region in the longer term.
Tweedledum & Tweedledee will be donating a portion of all sales
in early 2005 towards the cause. In addition, I encourage you, our avid international travelers,
to consider making whatever contributions you can. |

The CIA had an opening for an assassin.
After all the background checks, interviews, and testing were done there were three
finalists; two men and a woman. For the final test, the CIA agents took one of the
men to a large metal door and handed him a .45 Revolver. "We must know that you
will follow your instructions, no matter what the circumstances. Inside this room,
you will find your wife sitting in a chair. Kill her!" The man said, "You can't be
serious. I could never shoot my wife." The agent said, "Then you're not the right
man for this job." The second man was given the same instructions.
He took the gun and went into the room. All was quiet for about five minutes.
Then the man came out with tears in his eyes.
"I tried, but I can't kill my wife." The agent said.
"You don't have what it takes. Take your wife and go home."
Finally, it was the woman's turn. She was given the same instructions to kill her
husband. She took the gun and went into the room. 6 shots were heard, one
shot after another. The agents heard screaming, crashing, and banging on the
walls. After a few minutes, all was quiet. The door opened slowly and there stood
the woman. She wiped the sweat from her brow, and said, "This gun is
loaded with blanks. I had to beat him to death with the chair." |

Consumer
Video Services via the Internet Are on the
Rise Posted by

|
The worldwide
value of consumer-oriented video subscription
services delivered via the Internet will grow to
more than $4.6 billion in 2008, according to
In-Stat/MDR (http://www.instat.com). The
high-tech market research firm reports that this
market is expanding to include more types of
content, as well as extending its reach to
Internet hot spots, wireless services, mobile
phones and portable media centers.
"Sports video subscriptions are being used to
leverage what networks already have on TV, and
are enticing more consumers to sign up for
enriched broadband services such as MSN
Premium," said Gerry Kaufhold, a principal
analyst with In-Stat/MDR. "Synacor and Earthlink
are bundling sports video bargains along with
greatly improved user convenience. Once
consumers experience extended sports coverage
via broadband, their appetite grows for more
types of content, plus they want it delivered to
their cell phones and new portable video
devices." |

Microsoft to
Halt Production of Sports
Titles Posted

Microsoft
Corp.'s Xbox video game business will lay off 76
workers and stop making some sports games, the
company said.
Microsoft said it will stop producing team
sports games such as "NFL Fever," "NHL Rivals"
and baseball game "Inside Drive." But the
company said other sports-themed games such as
the golf title "Links" and the snowboard game
"Amped" won't be affected.
Employees were informed of the cuts earlier
this week, and Microsoft said it would try to
find them jobs elsewhere in the company.
Microsoft has around 1,200 employees in the
games unit.
The move was not a complete surprise, since
Microsoft said in March that it would not make
any new versions of the affected sports games
this fall. Then in May it struck a new a
partnership with Electronic Arts, maker of
popular games such as "Madden NFL," to allow
those games to be played online through
Microsoft's Xbox Live service.
